The Art of the Beach

I bet you’ve been wondering where the world’s smallest art gallery is located. Well, wonder no more, because I’ve located it- on the Venice Boardwalk.

I’ve walked by this place for years, but never went in to see the extensive art work. I think there are closets bigger than this “gallery”. Sadly, I don’t think I will get the chance anymore, as it appears the gallery owner is either 1) cleaning out his treasures or 2) being asked to leave- no doubt a rent hike on this ocean-front property. However, there are plenty of other artistic treasures on the Boardwalk, such as this portrait of the King.

Or this lovely sculpture:

Who needs MOCA and LACMA when you’ve got these?

Goodbye 11, Hello 12

Voyager Los Angeles welcomes you to 2012! But before we say goodbye to 2011, there are some updates and corrections to previous posts.

My 12/28 post about the closing of the Wilshire Grand said the Pope had been a guest there. Actually, his entourage stayed at the then-Hilton Hotel. He did eat there, and had his picture taken with many members of the kitchen staff.

An address in my Jim Morrison post on 12/19 is currently in the news, for an unfortunate reason. There has been a rash of fires being set in LA, mostly in Hollywood and West Hollywood. Morrison’s former house off of Laurel Canyon was targeted by the arsonist.

3 more days to skate on the ice rink at LA Live! (12/6)
I wish I could skate year round in LA!

And if you’re still checked into the Hotel California (10/10), please be aware the song is NOT about Satanism. Go to www.snopes.com for more info on this bizarre rumor.
